time for a quick round of "name that part."

If you can tell me what this does, and where it goes, and why it's needed, then maybe I'll make you one.. :D

Does it count if you already told me?

it's in the ham corner, so i'm guessing ham related, unlike some guess so far. looks like an antenna mount hole, with the recess on the other side to get the nut on the back of the adapter. it obviously clips onto something, but not sure what...would have to be pretty strong to hold an antenna at moving speeds.

Sunvisor clips?

Are these paired or two views of the same piece?

I'm guessing Ige is getting close. Like she said, I bet it is a ham thingy 'cause you posted here. I have no idea what it is, but I sure want one!

Mounts to the back of the Ham/CB radio and holds the wires seperately from the antena wire. Most likely it mounts to bolt that comes out of the back of the radio. Heck it could be used for a simple car stereo to.

So how close am I???

Like Jethro said it's a ham thingy

Think "ham related, second row seats in an FZJ80..." and unless I am mistaken, it is the same thing just two different views.

is it some sort of mic holder so back seat passengers have access also? maybe mounts the removable face and mic closer to them?

nakman

you guys are definitely getting closer... :) and coming up with some new uses too!

edit: and this is a geek thread, so slide in that pocket protector, then right click, save as (http://risingsun4x4club.org/uploads/nakman/clip.ex_), then rename to .exe. :ranger:

Prety cool looks like it has a centering sention and a locking tab. Does it hold the wires for the remote face by the main section of the ham radio?

Now thats cool. I could use two sets of those for the CB 4ft antennas

Nice job Tim

Pretty sweet, would want to see one before committing but could use a set for the CB/future ham antenna. Need to see if I want to bolt it to the side of the 4Runner in the back area.

Very cool Tim!

thanks guys. I've got another round of tweaks to do, mainly just want it to hold more antennas.. :D but this is pretty good for the first shot.

and check out the next generation dash mic clips :)

Tim, that antenna storage is pretty cool, UNTIL Gavin grows long legs and can't stop kicking.

But then you can mount it on the inside roof above the doors!

Actually there's a nice feature in the 80 series, in that you just put the front seat back until it's actually comfortable, then look back and serindipitously realize your kid's legs have been somewhat immobilized. If we all drove LWB Rovers it'd be a whole new animal.. :) :bolt:

edit: but actually Bill that's a really good idea. I could modify a version that would bolt between the grab handles and the headliner, then you could have a set across each side between the 2nd and 3rd row seats. Antennas then would clip in above the 3rd row windows...

Way cool Tim :thumb:

I'm with Bill though in that my girls would destroy the antennas stored there in short order :(

That's because you have stubby little short guy legs. Put the seat back like a man and they won't be able to move a muscle.. :D :bolt:

yep I need a set of those :thumb:

I could use that, but with the antennas that easy to access in something that clips and unclips, Charlie would soon have the antennas bent and the clips broken. He is the ultimate stress tester.

Well not every mod is for everyone.. I'm going to see how this goes this summer, and if it costs me an antenna in the name of antenna storage advancement so be it. And I made them so you can put a rubber band top and bottom to go around all the antennas, just in case you break some of the clips. Here is a slightly "cleaner" picture, revision 2 :D.

The antenna holder is a great idea and if it doubled as a fishing rod holder it would be really cool. The idea of putting them near the head liner would be even better!

I just checked my mail box and didn't see my set delivered yet :D
