Anyone aware of a relatively inexpensive supplier/fabricator for something like this for my gen 1 4Runner? I see that Slee makes them for the 60s and 80s. I am looking for something that could attach to my existing rear bumper. I am not liking how much room my spare is going to take up in the cargo area for CM'09. Thanks.

There used to be a guy who fabbed tire carriers that mounted in a 2" receiver that looked good, were inexpensive, and seemed very functional to me (although you lose use of your hitch). I just can't think of the name of his company...

It was not local; he had a Web site.

You could find a first year edition of the 1st gen 4Runner and snag the body-mounted spare tire carrier.

'84 4Runners had a body mounted spare tire carrier? I guess I have never seen one of those.

A hitch mount would work most times, except when we wanted to load up the bikes.
