I let a wrench slip out of my hand while adjusting the alternator tension and it landed right on a post and promptly let the smoke out of the white wire that goes from the battery/starter on into the ammeter. I've replaced the white wire and checked that the battery is getting a charge while running. During the short the needle on the ammeter fell off and I miss seeing the flow of electricity - especially when the needle is keeping time with my blinkers:D. Anyone have an ammeter or an old gauge cluster with an ammeter they'd like to get rid of?

Ammeters are harder to find now. Do you need it on a permanent basis? I believe that I have an old one from a Sun dash setup that I would let you borrow. Any chance that you can re-attach the needle? I have replaced needles before with pretty good luck.

I have an aftermarket one you are welcome to for free. I don't have any spare OEM ones though.

Good luck with the magic smoke...there be dragons :-)
