Anyone ever remove one?

I did a quick search to see if there is anything special required to get the grill off or gaining access to the speaker wires and came up empty. I'm hoping I don't have to drop the liner

One of the speakers in the 80 is blown so I'm just going to disconnect it but I'm looking for any tips/hints on getting the grill off and gaining access to the speaker itself...

TIA

You have to drop the headliner or break the speaker cover. I guarantee that after you drop the headliner, you will still manage to break the speaker cover too ;)

Let me find pics...

The grill is held on by four of those one way push on washer deals.

Treeroot is correct for your 80 (and his obviously) or an LX.

But in case someone is working on earlier model (94' older) the grill pops off without removing the headliner

Just disconnect it. You'll never notice its absence. Seriously.

It might be easier to cut the wire further away from the speaker.

There are connectors where the stock "sub" is in the back panel. The connections for both side speakers are both right where the sub is.

Excellent info :thumb:

After further diagnosis (grilling (no pun intended) the daughter for information) it appears that it made be the subwoofer making the noise as opposed to the speaker. But, now that the 80 is having starting issues the noisy speaker has been put on the back list.

Things happen in threes right? Noisy speaker, 80 no starty, and it needs an oil change. I hope it is done with its tantrum for awhile :hill:
