Has anyone registered a 40 with collector plates lately? I just got done registering my '79 and was surprised that the 5 years was something like $260, or roughly $50/year.

My only point of comparison is my '94 80 though which runs about $36/year now.

Anyone know why the 40 would be more than the 80 to register? The 80 is newer, heavier, and higher value...?

Just wanted to see if anyone else had a price point. I am up in Boulder County.

Thanks!

Was this the first time you have registered it in Colorado? You pay more the first time for ownership fees, etc and renewals are cheaper. How much did your bill of sale, or on the title, did it say the vehicle was worth?

I did collector plates on my 1974 FJ40 late last year and it was $150.

I am guessing there are title and taxes in there as well...

FYI, fees go up $32/year July 1 thanks to FASTER

Thanks guys. This should have only been registration fees for 5 years. I paid all the one time/first time title fees and taxes to get my temp tag when I purchased it. Had to get it to pass smog, etc...then got my collector plates.

I think I'll pay them a visit and see if they can explain. I appreciate the help.

It should be itemized on your registration. It could have something to do with where you live too. I live in unincorporated Douglas County so there are some RTD fees and City taxes I don't have to pay that others might.

Went into the DMV today. They had my 40 Titled with a Curb Weight of 7,100 lbs, about double the actual.

They're going to have to re-title it and then I'll get back about half the fees. It should be about what MtnTrucker paid, $150 or so when it's all said and done.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Thanks for posting up your results -- someone else may have the same problem in the future.
