Yaesu has a new radio apparently coming out, the FT-2900R. It seems to be the replacement for the FT-2800 and looks very similar in appearance and spec with the notable bump in power to 75W TX. Now you know my opinion on comparing 35W to 50W to 65W and 75W, but it's a change none-the-less.

Attached FCC documentation.

Cool. A good radio gets slightly better. Nuthin' wrong with that.

Are you monitoring all submissions to the FCC these days?

Nope, not that much of a dork. That's the best way to validate rumors of new radios, at least ones coming to market anytime soon. The manufacturer will have filed a certificate of compliance or test data with the FCC if they intend to sell the radio in the US in the near future.

It's amazing how much it still looks like my FT-2400 which I think the was the first "big heat sink and mil spec" mobile rig from Yaesu.

hard to tell from the pics but it does look smaller than the 2800 which is nice.

I dunno, I think the cases are pretty much the same. Here's the FT-2800M.

ah.. I looked at the specs on both.. Same case size. Case Size (WxHxD): (160 x 50 x 185 mm) (w/o knobs)

bummer. They need to slim it down some.
