H-55 into 1988 FJ-62

Quick question, any problems putting an h-55 5spd out of an 1984 FJ-60 into a 1988 FJ-62 with an auto in it now?
Thanks, Brian

Besides the fact that you're going from an auto to a manual? I know a guy on the BOWAGWR this past summer had issues shifting into low range, can't remember the exact reason though.

What do you have planned Brian? You're asking about SAS on a 4runner, H55 into an FJ62..., you've got me curious ;)

Just looking at different options for projects.
I think keeping the FJ-62 as an auto might be the best...

Chris did that swap on his old FJ62. Seemed like a nice swap. My only gripe about 62's is that I would prefer a 5 speed manual. I'm guessing it's a straight bolt in. (?)

Logged in to post a very similar question myself. I apologize for a slight hijack. H55 mated to a 4 speed transfer case? Heard that the t/c lacks an oiling cup for 5th gear and that this set up is not possible? Have you guys heard of this?

The oiling cup spot is on the later t cases. IIRC 82 and beyond. My 85' 60 had it and every t case I've gotten as a spare has it.

I think the main PITA is the pedal bucket. other than that it is something you should have no trouble doing Brian. Lots of swaps on mud if you want to look there under the 60's section.

So just to clairify, an '86 4 speed transfer case shouldn't have any issues mating to a H55?

nope, none at all.

easy peasy. just get a shifter, oiler cup, and a shift knob.

It all bolts in. You may have to seal one hole in the t case that doesn't get a bolt through it with the swap, you'll see it when you get there. It's a 1/8 pipe tap and plug type of thing. super easy.

Thanks all!! I appreciate the info..

Second that "Thank you" and again I apologize for the hijack.
