White Rim on Monday

For anybody that's showing up early, I'm hoping to run a portion/all of the White Rim trail on Monday. I realize it's a real push to get it all done in one day, so worse case we'll be trying to do a portion of the trail and turn back as necessary. Not tough wheeling, but it's supposed to be beautiful back there.

I'll be showing up Saturday afternoon at BFE, it'll be an '08 Tundra towing my dune beige FJ40. Stop by and chat if you'd like.

I hope to be there Sunday night. If I can make it, I up for an easy drive on monday.
I will know more Sunday night.
I'll try finding you.

Check with the NPS that is is open. I heard from some motorcycle people there had been a rockslide and in was closed to 4wd but that was a week ago. It's about 120 loop. Go Clockwise. Schaffer trail is the most impressive part and near the beginning. I have the naturalist guide to the area. I'll bring it with. Find me on Sat or Sun and you're welcome to borrow it. Enjoy

Thanks- that's good information to know! I'll try tracking you down.

Another thought is you probably want to go by the visitor center on Sat on you way to camp or Sun to get your park pass. If you had to wait until they open monday it could be a really long day. Perhaps you can get a park pass from Arches as it is much closer to town. I found my guide book for you.

David, since I won't be there on Sat, Could you pick up a pass for me as well?

Another truck for WRT on Monday?

We'll be arriving at BFE Sunday night. We've been to CM 3x with our '40, but this is the first for the LX, so it needs some exercise before CM. We've driven the Shaefer/Hiwy 279 "back way in"/White Rim Trail area several times, but never the whole trail. If you're up for another truck, we'd love to tag along. We'll be in the Earthroamer pulling a dark green '97 LX450, and we'll look for you as well.

I did it last year. It is gorgeous. Went in Shafer, driving clockwise, camped at Gooseberry, and finished the next day. We took the side trail down Lathrop Canyon for lunch on the river. I needed to bring fuel cans. You need a permit, even for day use, and the camp sites can fill up fast!

Have fun!!! I wish I could join you.

Sure thing!

More the merrier. I think if we get more than 5-6 rigs it'll be hard to complete the loop, which is fine. It's supposed to be a vacation, right?

Last year the ranger at the visitor center made each of our drivers sign the paperwork. I would call tomorrow to see if you can pick up a permit for someone else. Would not want you to miss out.
