Climbing the Tallest Tower

My palms did start sweating and I've climbed a fair bit...

Wow, that's nuts. I was ok when it was all enclosed, but when he hops out and starts climbing that galvanized pipe with the carriage bolts sticking out of it forget about it... no way I'd do that.

x2...Add to that when he said it is faster to climb without the hook connected  - I had to fast forward to the end

I wonder, do they give those guys parachutes, just in case? :hill:

Coke anyone?

Try this one.

Bighead 10-05-2010 09:23 AM

I've parachuted from much higher altitudes than that (25,000' MSL was my highest) but for some reason that video gave me a bit of a pucker factor. Maybe the fish-eye camera view...

I've never actually been nauseated watching a video before...until now...that is totally nuts
totally totally ridiculously insane

I thought that would be cool to see in Imax.

What gets me is the 30 lbs of swinging tools under him. That dude doesn't have big brass ones, his are titanium and Carhartt has to make special trousers just for him.

I had to hold onto my chair while I watched that. My palms and my feet sweat. Damn.

wesintl 10-05-2010 11:14 AM

that was pretty cool. only the very end was a little unnerving. free climbing though...

My palms started sweating just hearing you guys describe it. I hate heights.
