Hotdogger Installs

I guess there's one perk to ringleading the group buy.. get to be first of the group to post up the install! big ups once again to Seldom Seen, for showing us the way... :drink:

the install started with removing the air cleaner lid, air tube (MAF sensor wire), then repositioning the Snackster.. a little more forward tucked in as much as possible under the oil pipe deelybop. I used two new mounting points this time- one is the metal bracket that holds the oil tube deal to the block, the other is the screw that holds up the throttle cable support thing. I had to use a slightly longer bolt in them to get everything to go, with washers.

Next was fabbing up a bracket, using the trademark Simpson tie, from the Depot. I like this stuff for the light duty mounting of various crap, it's worked well in several applications. fairly easy to bend in a vice with a hammer, thick enough so it's pretty tough to bend by hand, yet thin enough that you can slam holes through it with a cordless drill & one end pinched in the vice. That's about my speed, and recipe for a great evening in the garage. :drink: :smokin:

I created 2 new holes, both with the bolts in them in the picture below. The mounting points aren't completely perpendicular to the engine, so this was so the bracket plane would tilt back and sit completely parallel with the manifold sheild, and also prevents the bracket from twisting should one of the bolts come loose.

Be sure to do a fit check with the Hotdogger base & bracket once installed, to make sure there won't be any interference with anything else (including the snackster.. ) The top bolt goes into an unused threaded boss, the lower bolt uses one of the manifold shield bolts.

Once everthing is back in place, both the Snackster and Hotdogger are completely accessible and operational. ready to night run!
