Driving Thru Denver Saturday

Hi Guys,
I will be driving thru Denver Saturday from Albany to Moab.
I am leaving Albany Thursday after work.
You can track my last 60 minutes via APRS here:

Last year I was thru Denver during breakfast time. I was wondering if maybe I can entice some of you to come out and have breakfast with me.

As I get closer to Denver, I can be on VHF simplex or a repeater. Please let me know which one.

I will also be on 40M for regional communications. My best SWR is 7.188 so I will be traveling at night on that.

Day time I will be traveling on 20M using 14.342.00 or 14.343.

Feel free to suggest other frequencies, being compromised mobile system, I wan to stay on at the lowest SWR with out moving frequencies too much.

So that I can have something to do, I will be CQing on these frequencies.

You might be able to do that, breakfast that is. It all depends on how far behind I am at that point.

Ok, Sounds like a plan.
I have to stop and switch hamstick antenna, so flipping back and forth is not very practicle. But I can change band every gas station to keep it interesting.

Tom, it will be great to see you

Sounds even simpler. 7.188 all the way. :-)

One thing still worries me about the 40M. When I transmit it makes my LX450 squirm.
The fan is automatic, but when I transmit it goes full speed.
I can see some light at the dashboard, lights up dimly (the orange lockers light) and sometime something is chirping in the dashboard. Only does it on 40M.

But just driving constant on 40M is a lot more practical. While stationary, I can mount a full 1/4 wave 20M using Buddipole components so I am not entirely giving DXing while way.

I got that in my '95 FZJ80. Only on 40M. Made a horrible buzzing sound when tuning up or transmitting. I thought it was my screwdriver antenna. Must be something internally with the wiring. Dave?

I will be gearing up to leave around that time, but will be monitoring the Colorado Connection all the way. No HF this year. Had it for the past few, but new rig means new ways to mount the toys...

maybe, depends on how early and when my workers are coming over to do my security system. will you be on i70?

Also a maybe. Depends on timing. Keep us updated here and if a breakfast works we can meet where the Central Breakfast Club goes - its close to I-70

I will be coming on I-76 and on to I-70 going west.
If we meet, it needs to be on my path as I am not keen on getting lost.

Let's setup a place so everyone knows. Give me an address so that I can map it on the GPS as well as print a copy with direction for I-70. It will help me estimate time.

As soon as I wake up Saturday morning, I am pretty much drive straight into the meeting place so it will be easy to estimate the time of arrival. It will be easy to send an email to someone who can post time, vs trying to access the forum using iPhone.

Yeh I know, details details.

IMHO, and members pipe up with more ideas, Jack N Grill at 26th & Federal could work. Jack N Grill also has a large parking lot behind it and across the alley. Plenty of Cruiser parking.

Rami gets off at the Federal Boulevard Exit (which is at 47th Avenue) and heads South to 26th Avenue, where Jack and Grill is on the East Side between 25th & 26th. Turns left on 26th and then right into the alley, parking in large fenced dirt lot on left.

I'll buy you breakfast if you arrive with any of the following: Brooklyn Lager, good NY state made bagels, genuine Linzer tortes or B&W cookies from a NY bakery

Have a great drive.

DOH - I-76 joins I-70 a few miles west of Federal.

You can still get off 76 at Federal, but its about 25 blocks farther north, adds 5 minutes.

Otherwise need a place on Wadsworth or West of that after 70 & 76 join.
