FJ Summit, Ouray 2012

I had to come back early, had to work Friday back in Denver..:bawl:

But I had a blast Wed and Thursday!

Here are the limited pics I was able to snap...

Great traffic in the TLCA booth, this pic was before the event started.

Yes that is a VW Synchro van coming down Black Bear.

It had to be scary to wheel Black Bear of all places, cause the driver sits over the front wheel base....No thanks,, Dude was white knuckling it but I have to say he was poised and making it happen!!

And I did a water recovery presentation, complete with footage from Woodsman..

They had over 40K in raffle prizes for the raffle Saturday night, close or over 300 vehicles, at least 6+ 100 series... Interesting fact, this year over 60% new bees, last year was 70% new bees.

Thanks for representing RS, Chris:thumb:

I should run out there next year it looks like fun.......

You bet, it is really fun to represent the club and TLCA at this event.

It is open to all Toyota 4x4s now, so I expect next year to have even more Land Cruisers, 4Runners and trucks attending.

That's awesome Chris, thanks for heading down there. Also awesome that you had a TLCA Booth, much appreciated there.

We still need to see the recovery presentation. Perhaps you could give it to the club one meeting?

Also, call that guy with the syncro and tell him he needs a better rig for wheeling and that he needs to sell it to me for cheap.

Wish we could have gotten down there with you..

The water crossing presentation was well received.

I am not sure if I can with stand the humility needed to present within the club..:o

They asked me to present during dinner, vs. the normal 4-6pm presentations. So it was a packed house....

I basically showed video, still shots of my water rescue and compared it to a similar depth level water crossing I did in my FJC on the Rubicon and then discussed some go forward advice... Look for river bottom characteristics, if first add strap to back before you drop in, create a wake with steady momentum, etc..

I shared my new mantra which is "only cross once and only if you have to." It is a Mantra not a motto, cause I gotta repeat it to myself....:)

Do Synchro's have a transfer case/low range?

Not sure Matt, but I think it was a stick....

The thing is, we all have the luxury of a hood and engine infront, giving us some comfort..

At the steps this guy was totally exposed sitting infront of the front axel, hanging in there like a champ. I should have snapped a pic of him as he went by but I was pinned with concern for his safety. Really his rig was way solid on this "Feature."

Justin, that is a cool pic!

Would you be willing to send that to Todd at TLCA?

Maybe include the pig shot you also have and a few sentences on your take of attending the FJSummit?
