video surveillance

We have an alley access to our garage and have had 2 break-ins over the past few years. We have ADT for the house and garage. But car break-ins are on the rise in our area.

After talking with a neighbor over the weekend and parking my rig in our ally parking spot, I decided to pull the trigger on a wireless system.

Has anyone tried this system or others?

I choose this one for cost, customer reviews and ability to integrate with home laptop, Iphone/Ipad..

I also picked up a couple of signs to post in the alley.

You might get with the neighbors and post a sign at each end of the alley.

Cameras will be good too and if it continues beyond that you can install an in-car surveillance camera with DVR to record on a loop.

I have a revo system and the quality is great. Keep in mind the police most likely won't do squat with the video evidence though. I've been told it's too difficult to get a positive I.d.
At least you will know who you need to beat the crap out of.

That seems ridiculous. They ID people with convenience store cameras all the time.

Thanks Ige, I wondered about that aspect. I think the fact that I will be video recording should deter the random car break in thief, I hope.. I might call my local station and ask them their perspective. We have a great station in our area, University/I25. They are really nice and good at what they do around here.

I use these cameras at work. http://www.foscam.com/

They are IP cameras. I went with wired to a hub. I can access the cameras from anywhere and see what is going on. You can then use BLUEIRIS to record to a PC with a large drive.

Also use IP Cam Viewer on Android or tablet to see what is up at the shop. You can also listed and talk back and forth, but that does not work that good.

Cool, So I can see someone walking up to my cruiser and tell them "back away from the vehicle, I have a Daisy 880 with a scope and I am not afraid to use it....::D

I set up the survelance at our buisness. We are using the equipment listed below. I am happy with the system. The 2MP cameras will make it much easier for positive ID. We looked at an analog system but you couldn't decipher facial features or license plates.

I would go with IP, 2mp minimum for your needs. the DVR is a big part of the cost for a system like ours and i'm not sure how the Uniden will hold up in the image quality, storage capacity front. I can get a few weeks on two 2TB drives in a raid 1 array at 15fps full resolution.

We just have a sign, "Beware of the Bears" :D Now I just need to figure out how to keep the bears from breaking into the cars this summer. I don't mind all the Cheerios getting cleaned out but they are not real carful of the upholstery:mad:

Sucks you have to go through that on the front range. Cheap solution would be a game camera(hunting) They can do still or video and have IR lighting for night photos.

I guess we all have our predators..:D

My garage break in was tough a few years back but one of my biggest heart burns was once I left my garage door up by mistake and someone stole my tool box I had made for the Rubicon in '08.. It was an awesome set of tools and expensive.. Waiting for my delivery today...can't wait... Will be hard to focus on work when it arrives..
