Kurdistan Cruisers

I was on a 269 mile trip through Kurdistan today and never really noticed how many Land Cruisers there are out here. We were spending your tax dollars visiting a few places and during a lull I ended up with some extra time on my hands, so I started taking pictures of random Cruisers driving by. Thought this might be interesting for some of you on here. I'll try to get some good photos of various Land Cruisers (probably some other randoms) over the next couple of months until I'm home on vacation. I can tell you that they keep it real with the sweet pin stripes over here. We're definitely missing out on that front... They aren't big into wheeling here, so most of these will probably be sort of sad and blinged out. There are a few 40's and a bunch of 60's floating around though, so I'll keep my eyes peeled. Anyway, here we go:

From March. We were at a hotel in Sulaymaniya and I spotted their trash truck in the back. The owner came up to me while I was looking at it and I showed him a pic of my 40, which opened the floodgates. We played some charades and through various poses, I learned he was the original owner of this '82. He's driven it every day since then. It has about 400,000km on the original engine. Still kickin'.

These next few were taken at the same street corner. Not the best photos, but hey. We were parked for about 20 minutes and swarmed with different Cruisers. I'll edit them down, because there were a TON of 200's (mostly diesel).

I don't know if anyone has ever heard of a Toyota Fortuner, but they're kind of cool. Like a small 4Runner, but bigger than a RAV4. They're based on a Hilux.

They're doing some cool stuff with the Fortuner in other parts of the world.

I think this is a Prado, but I'm not sure... :D

And to break it up a bit, we hit up this hotel that Saddam used to use for his staycations. Pretty cool place on a big lake.

Finally, my attempt at taking a scenic picture through the ballistic windshield while driving. Close enough.
