BVSV - does it need sealant?
 
I am replacing the BVSV in my thermostat housing. I think it's a tapered pipe thread. Does it need sealant? The one I pulled out certainly had a bunch goobered on. Teflon tape sufficient? Don't want it to leak after I have refilled the radiator...

No, it does not (or at least the factory doesn't). However I use teflon tape on tapered pipe threads such as that.
