HAM radio - remove or not prior to selling?

I've never sold a vehicle privately before. Especially not one that I've done a bunch of work to like the FJ. I'm planning on just leaving the CB in since it's already hardwired. My bigger question is whether or not I leave the HAM in the truck. The faceplate is mounted to the roof so yanking it would leave some holes in the headliner. Small ones but holes just the same. There's also the antenna cable going through the roof. That would have to be left but I guess I could just cap off the mount on the outside. If I leave it in, I'd nuke the settings back to factory defaults.

Looking for opinions.

I left the one in Rachel's when I sold it,. I would take it out if you plan on reusing it, otherwise leave it and let the buyer know they can listen, but need to get a license before they can transmitt

Still debating. Yaesu is no longer making the FTM-350 and it's replacement is fugly with a faceplate about twice the size.

Guess it be a good excuse to upgrade my license and just get a 857...

My daughters have gotten too big for the back both in size and personality...

I left mine in my old truck for the same reason you are questioning it. I drilled a couple of holes in the overhead console as part of my mounting, and so I figured it would sell better with the radio vs. a couple of holes.

Guess it depends on who you're selling it to. If it's someone here, or mud, etc. I'd be inclined to leaving it, as they'd likely understand what it's about, and what they need to transmit, etc. But if it's a trade-in, the I'd yank it for sure. Random CL sale would fall somewhere in the middle I guess..

if you can yank it and leave the wiring behind, that's probably best. Then odd chance the guy buying the truck is already a ham, and you can then add back the radio to sweeten the deal.

I'd always keep a radio, mainly because I couldn't imagine not. But also because I would never sell a radio capable of transmitting to a non-ham or someone who was not at least studying for their ticket.

Might leave the NMO mount but Larsen makes little 3/4" plastic plugs you can use to fill the hole left if you take it out. If someone asks about it, it's for a cell phone antenna.
