80 guys - one of my favorite all time mods is available again.

Occasionally I stumble into 80's land.. happened to catch there's a group buy going on passenger grab handles http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-te...-interest.html

Definitely top 10 of all the mods I did to my 80 when I had it, I would heartily recommend it to anyone with an 80. Not only for the :Princess:'s, but you can prop drinks on it when parked at Slickrock Campground... ;)

That does look handy - would it affect airbag deployment at all? It's hard to tell how far it sticks out.

I had one of these grab bars on my previous 97 80. It was a great addition for function and appearance. Highly recommend one.

I wonder if I could make that work in my 4runner? Tim, the one you posted of your install looks exactly like the color of my runner interior. I'm going to check to see if there is a bar behind the dash that I can hook into or not.

What color was yours Tim?

Mine was the tan/brown. There were holes in the sheet metal behind the dash, once you drop the glove box you and just barely see them. The grab handle comes with threaded studs and nuts, so was an easy bolt-on once you gained access to the backside.

MTSN- no real airbag issues, AFAIK. In fact I had similar concerns and remember a post somewhere where someone found one with the airbag deployed, with this grab handle, and all seemed to perform as functioned. But hey, with any mod there's always that risk it won't crash test like the day it rolled off the lot, but you're well past that point now with the lift, bumper, tires, etc.. may as well sawzall the half doors. :)
