Farnham, Fritz, and I wheeled McCallister Gulch tonight to Shrine Pass.

Some pics, Farnham took a lot more than me.

Looks like a good time. How far from Denver is that place?

I'd say about 2 1/2 hours. I'm assuming they started from Camp Hale, which is between Leadville and Vail. To see Shrine Pass (basically a dirt road) you can go up I-70 to Vail Pass and get off for the rest area. After you cross the bridge and descend to the rest area there will be a right hand turn onto a dirt road. That takes you to Shrine Pass, McCallister Gulch is on the back (west) side.

From Denver, yes about 2.5 hours. For me, about 20 minutes from work :p: We started from Camp Hale and dumped out on Shrine Pass Road. I then drove Shrine home. Farnham and Fritz live in the Vail Valley so they jumped on the highway.

A few more pics.

few more pics others are in 4wheel staging. It's a nice area to Wheel and camp. Dispersed camping is permitted through out Camp Hale. Trails are moderate. McAllisters, Ptarmigan, Lime creek, Shrine pass is a HWY. Yoder Gulch is across the street. Holly Cross City, 10 min down the road. I'm always willling to give some you city folks a tour. :D

Nice. I'll have to get up there and check it out some time. What altitude is the trail?
