It's underpowered.
It uses more fuel.
It is a pain to work on (not much room in that engine bay for the V6).
It's not as reliable as the 22RE.

I am blanking on the name of the alternator shop off of 38th right now, but they probably have a solid state VR sitting on the shelf. Pretty cheap, and a great upgrade, IMHO.
