Is it highly advisable to get the heads milled if I do end up pulling them off? I know new head bolts are a must.

Leaking Head Gasket?

Long story short…picked up a clean 3rd gen 4Runner with a blown head gasket. I sourced a used 3.4l engine with 180k on the clock ($650) and stripped it down to a long block.

I’m building it back up...

I tend to agree, LS swaps are more common due to cost and ease of installation compared to other possible swaps. I would love Toyota reliability though. The Cruiser has 220k on the clock.
