I know it can sound kind of snobish, but take the morrison dinosaur tracks on the hogback as extreme example. Visit any of the pertoglyph panels and most will have vandalism from people carving their name, or their version of a bighorn, to shooting them with guns.
I was on a river trip with a guy, and we floated past a large flat stone with dino tracks right across the center of it. His comment, "I wonder what it would take to get that out of here? It would make an awesome outdoor table" Dont he was serious or not, if 1% of people who think like that act on it the damage they do is done.
In remote central WY on BLM land, Outlaws Run 2009, I found an amazing fossil print of a leaf as big as a dinner plate on a loose rock. It was perfect. I left it for someone to discover again as I had. That's how RS members roll. I get what you are saying and I think we all do.
