The Delores River crossing is an added feature. A dirt road runs off to the left of the county road and then rejoins the county road a ways down. so you can go look at the river and even camp near it, where you cross, as we did. So you can play and then get back on the county road and continue on the Kokopelli.
I bet fall and dead of winter are the best time to cross it, I have in September and it was up to top of our tires at the deapest point, mostly just mid wheel.
