Can't help too much there, I think a competent shop would be in the 2-4 hour range, as I paid someone to do mine. I suspect though that it's been fairly well documented though, as it's one of the few known issues on these.
And another vote to ditch the K&N- when you clean your throttle body, take a peek at your MAF sensor and carefully remove the oil from it, without damaging it. Curious, is there any dirt in the little tuna can below the main air filter housing? If it's squeaky clean, that's actually more suspicious to me than if you see some dirt in it..
