the highline is the original trail. Its always been a wee bit tippy but its only in the last couple of years that people have driven up the creekbed. The first time I went down that trail 5 years ago it was MUCH tighter much more overgrown, and there was most certainly only one route.
It is way more washed out than I've ever seen it before. I stayed high on Saturday, but leinies is right if you aren't full width you aren't making that line. Its too far gone and would take major re-building to make safe.
I remember a few years ago Dan Dilly, Red Fox and myself yelled at some kids in two Sami's and told them to get out of the creek bed and back on the trail. Only a couple had made track in the bed at that point, now thats the trail everyone does. Gee, kinda makes you wonder why the USFS is not amused!
