Default Nov 2009 Cruiser Calendar

Anyone notice Bruce Wade's mini truck this month? Caption says it's a 1988. It's clearly a 3rd gen, so maybe 1989? The chrome grill with 'Toyota' tells me it's a 1989-1991 4WD (the 2WD had a different grill). Also not sure the NA-spec RN101 ever came without a 22R-E. These are details I notice, whatcha gonna do? That is one bitchin' truck.

I like it too, but I thought removable hard top was 1st gen for sure... and 3rd gen is 4 doors, 3.4, and a bunch of leather?

I don't know. I'm rocking a Cool Cruisers 2009 calendar by my desk at home, with a couple of bikini-clad girls next to a lifted red FJ40. It's sweet.

That topper just looks like a 4Runner, it's a pickup. You are a neophyte mini owner and so I'll give you a pass that when I say '3rd gen' it's in reference to the third generation of 4WD pickups. You are right that the 3rd gen 4Runner would be 1996-2002, but they lag the pickup by one generation in 4WD. If you want to be really confused the 1989-1995 pickup is really a 5th generation Hilux since the first two generations were 2WD only. Bruce's truck in the photo is the same vintage and probably very similar to my truck 'cept for the XtraCab (same funky early 90's pinstripe even). Oh and the Dana 60 axles.
