Default dual band? triple band?

OK, so am I understanding correctly that a dual band radio like my Yaesu FT-7900 can monitor two different frequencies, but can only transmit on one at a time? So I can monitor a repeater and also monitor our simplex frequency? (or 2 repeaters, 2 simplex, etc?) So what about a Triple Band? Can it monitor 3 frequencies? Or is that completely different? Thanks

tri band means it can transmit on 3 different bands (50/144/430 MHz) . Dual band monitor means you can monitor 2 frequencies at one time.

If you go 3 band, you could be needing to upgrade to General from Technician. Get your study guide and crack the book.
