Default I need a new rear bumper!

I got rear ended tonight on my way home from work. Short version of the story... I got stopped and the Grand Prix behind me went under the rear of my truck. He was probably going about 50+ before he hit me. I bet he about peed himself 'cause my bumper almost went through his windshield!

So now, what kind of bumper should I get?

Glad the Smitty held up! Last time I looked I think Smitty may have changed their catalog and no longer makes that bumper. If going with another is not possible or you just want to change, hard to beat Marlin's bumper.

Or a solid homebuilt steel bumper using 4x4 square tube. Squishy may be parting with his that we made for his truck. Stout and better clearance.

I'm liking the All Pro so far... though it hasn't been rear-end tested yet, thankfully.

For the Hilux the All Pro and the Marlin are pretty similar designs (both are 1.75" 0.120 tubing with quarter protection and cost with $15 of each other).

I've also thought the Warn is a nice looking bumper, although it's 2x as much as All Pro and Marlin, who are solid Toyota outfitters and deserve our support.

I can vouch that the Marlin is Rubicon-approved! A Pontiac Grand Am has no hope against it.

That is pretty close to the one Squishy and I made for his truck.

Yeah and his cost a whole ton less than $700 or whatever Warn wants for it, too.

Assuming Squishy will want to sell it. Ping him.
If you have a 1" body lift it will be the schizz. If not you will have to offset the mounts, which can be done easily enough - or use cutouts on the bed skirt and tuck it in tight. Receiver can be added easily enough. Uses square tube sliding into the rear of the frame rails so it is quite rigid.

So far I like the Marlin--All Pro-- Addicted Off Road/Trail Gear bumpers. They are very similar. All Pro says that the spare tire will not fit under the truck with their bumper.

Addicted Offroad:

A 33" spare fits fine with Marlin's, just like stock. I trimmed the apron on my bed instead of a body lift FWIW.
