For $1100 I'd rather build a Diamond\Toyota high pinion I think...

For a mini - sure, but for full size - 60/62/80, slap in a detroit and your done.

One does not 'slap in a Detroit' into a dadgum pain-in-the-arse Dana... and I wasn't thinking minis. I was thinking FZJ80 HP third up front and full width Diamond housing.

And a 70 requires a few extra inches of tire for clearance!

We just gotta send you back to the Toyota monastery (The Order of the Pure, run by Brother Kaizen) for some self-flagellation I see....

For a d60 you would honestly be better off starting from scratch using this guy http://www.extremeaxlesales.com/

How much does a diamond housing run? For some reason $900 sticks in my head.

True, but by the time you FF the rear - pretty much mandatory with custom length axles IMHO, since spares wouldn't exist - get good stout shafts and Longfields up front, get longer steering links... it's an expensive project. But the results are kinda cool...

well you can just weld it, and unlock the hubs. or you can set up the carrier, which is actually fairly easy.

as for the seventy, a torch and a grinder fix that.

still cheaper, easier. however not needed unless your in the 49 range on a full size or in comp.
