Default 2f crankshaft

I know that this might be a stupid question, but can you remove and replace the crankshaft without removing the engine, anybody know?

It is possiable to do, but you would need to remove the trans mission first( I would also remove the flywheel/clutch to make it less heavy. Then remove the timing cover and such. Then you may be able to get it out. It would be so much quicker and easier to do this on the engine stand. It would also not land on you when you take out the main bearing.
