Just called them and talked to Glenn, they do walk ins no appointments so I'll be walking in around 8:30.

Figure I'll give general a shot, why not just some more time spend filling in little dots

What peripherals should be added to this radio to use it as your primary rig? I'm convincing JT to step up to HAM this fall. Do you need an external antenna? is a seperate mic a good idea?

For a primary I would advise against it. It is only .5 or 1.0 watts so the distance is very limited. That is my biggest complaint and the lack of a key pad. During CM I was across from the big tent and could barely understand folks using their HT's in the tent. I would suggest he get a normal size HT and buy a mic, external antenna and a car charger. After that a protective cover, holster or some type of carrying device and an extra charger/batteries.

Just my opinion after having used mine and my full size HT.
