Default Twin Cone 10/08/10

Today Nick Andrews and I blew off work and went wheeling up Twin Cone. I brought my wife and daughter. It was a beautiful day, although a bit cold and windy up on top. There was a smattering of snow here and there on the trail, and the peaks between Jefferson and Breckenridge to the west were VERY white.

It was the first time for either of us on that trail. We really liked it. There were nice aspen groves and lots of beaver ponds down low. About halfway up the trail the fun begins with lots of good sized rock obstacles. Then there is a gnarly rocky loose dirt hill climb which we both bypassed.

We went all the way to the top, then dropped back down into the trees and had lunch (and hot chocolate) before heading back to the highway. All in all a great way to spend the day!

Thanks for ditching work and going Nick. It was a blast!

Thumbs up

Went up and did that trail the Saturday before. Had a little trouble with that one spot and slipped of rock and got hung up. had to pull cable to get off, looks like a few more rocks have stacked since then. Had a great day up there. No wind sunny and warm. Almost caught a couple of Lowry boys flying below us at top, just couldn't get the camera on fast enough. fun trail alot of challenging lines.

Ouch! I actually squeezed by that rock without putting a tire on it in my 80 on the way up. Nick didn't have sliders though so going onto the rock looked like a safer approach to avoid body damage. I did have to move one rock for Nick coming down it because he was going to drag his swaybar pretty hard. That spot would be pretty interesting if it was wet or snowy!
