i have stock gearing and 33's and get 17 on summer gas and about 15 on winter. it all depends on how your drive, how much air is in the tires and what you have loaded in the back. I wouldn't buy this car if you are concerned about gas mileage. i would buy it because you've always wanted one. the gas will cost what it costs. my advice, buy it and don't look back. land cruisers are the best!

Gotta pay to play.

Most people with built FJCs complain about mileage too. Although I do not have mud tires and haven't regeared, I can get 19-20 mpg if driving 60-65 mph and that is pretty good compared to what most people are getting with cars, minivans and pickups across the land.

What grade of fuel are you running? High grade= a higher yield of mpg. But not much. Make sure you have accurate air pressure in all tires and your engine service is up to date.

Matt...Question that has burning a hole in my noggin

Have you noticed any appreciable change in your MPG figures since installing your SC?

My theory is that you will get the same or slightly better gas mileage (once the novelty and lead footing syndrome wears off ) with a SC as stock because the engine while using more gas (maybe) doesn't have to work as hard to move the beast around...

I came up with this theory after borrowing my FIL's Dodge 2500 with the V10 in it. We averaged over 20 mpg to Moab and back, pulling our popup camper. The truck didn't even notice the camper behind it.
