Default Hood insulation replacement

One of the things I did this weekend was replace my old nasty hood insulation. I was greasy, dirty and I suspect mice had been living in it.

Kinda nasty underneath.

Realized all the globs of adhesive or whatever holding the hood down have come off. I'll need to address that later.

Cleaned it up a bit

Had to pick up some new clips. Most of the old ones broken when I removed them.

Just needs trimming.

Yup. Good old Reflectix.

I'll be putting some inside my doors this weekend.

Tossed some Reflectix in my rear doors yesterday. The second door went a bit smoother than the first. I cut the first a bit short where the bottom curves. I made the second piece longer and was able to tuck it in nice and snug.

I got to thinking about what to use as a replacement for the plastic dust seal you have to take off. I thought Tyvek would work great. Into The Wind, the kite shop in Boulder, sells 60" wide pieces for $3.50 a yard. 2 Yards should do all 4 doors. Much cheaper than buying a roll of house wrap. You could go really cheap and just tape together some large priority mailing envelopes.
