man best of both wagon worlds IMO! Except I might go for a diesel over a Vortec.

They had me until the Gm engine. I know some people like it, but that is a deal breaker for me... I have had three engines from Toyota go over 300K miles all stock. Not saying that Gm engines don't serve a purpose, but I like knowing i'll have an engine for a looooooong time when I drive a truck like a cruiser.

That was a one off built 45 built on a 100 series chassis. Cool truck though.

I got excited at the Vortec. If it had a 3FE or 1ZFE I just figure what a shocking waste of time and effort.

GM junk is built to run on American hybrid grain fuel. Old Toyota iron is not, so that gap of "reliability" to me is completely gone plus the parts for the GM powerplants that were sold in the millions will be around for decades.

At some point, being able to reliably fix something that lasts for 250K miles instead of 350K miles and that has better fuel economy and twice the power is a pretty obvious choice.
