Default can't find the title for the FJ40!!!

This could be God's way of saying, "Don't trade it!" But I can't find the title/registration for my 1963 FJ40. It was given to me as a gift from an ex-boyfriend....

would Denver have these kind of records available?

Did you ever transfer the 40 into your name? If so, for some modest amount of $$ you can go down to the DMV and get a duplicate title - been there, done that

If you never trasferred the 40 into your name then you'll need the ex-boyfried to go get the duplicate and sign it over to the dealership I think...

damn never did want to talk to him again. He ended up giving me the FJ because he felt guilty: apparently he had been having a 20 year affair with a married woman and when she dumped him, he'd go out and date someone else, then dump them when she came acalling again!

I was the inbetweener!!! Bastard. But that FJ is sure cool.

Ritter added a $100 'fee' if you failed to transfer the title in a timely manner.

Murphy's Law states that you will find said titles shortly after getting duplicates

In my case I literally found the original title day after getting the duplicate

If I can't find it I'm gonna have to come up with the money they were gonna trade me the FJ40 for!!! and it's not exactly a small sum.

Yeah, I think there is a way to get a new title in your name without the last owner being involved, but it is not easy. takes registered letters to the original owner i think? posting in the news paper? that kind of stuff? then if you can prove it's been abandoned you can apply for a title.. That's how it worked in Tn. but Co may be different.
