This one arrived in the Treasurer's email box, along with a couple from Mr. Yang in Hong Kong and some company wanting trying to find diamond distributors ...There was even a picture attached...I just had to laugh . And yes, it was all run together just like this

Hello. My name is Olga. I understand that you don't know me, and I don't know you, but in the future all can change probably. I ask that you have given me some minutes on perusals of my letter. I hope that it will not make difficulty to you. Marriage agency in Kanash gave me your e-mail address. To me explained that you very good person and you very much approach to me. I have come to Agency to find the future husband from other country. Why from another country? Because I have been very much disappointed with Men from my country and now I search my life in abroad. I has tired to be lonely and to carry spend all days equally. I want to love and to be happy! I asked myself a question why I can not it. And I come in this agency with such the request that they have helped me to find the person for that I will happy. Yes certainly I have paid some money that has found the person for me. But what is it the money in comparison with love? Nothing. It is simply emptiness. Love is the most important feeling in a life, without which our lives grey and empty. I shall not speak how many I have paid. I hope that you will understand me. I very much hope that you will be interested in me and we can continue our dialogue after that letters. And I very much hope that I shall leave in yours opinion good Impression about me. I want to tell some words about me. As I already spoke my name is Olga I'm 26 years. I live in Kanash. You can look my external qualities in my photo which I have attached in the letter. I live with my mum together and I work as doctor the Dentist and I treat a teeth to people. I have gone studies on this profession, in order to help people. I look like on my father because he gave your life to rescue the little girl, and he has rescued her only he lost. I shall tell you about it later. I love my professional though In Russia it is not as well appreciated as in other foreign countries. I love an active way of life but time not suffices. In my life I dream to find the person with which I can to lead all life and I shall be happy. I dream about big and cheerful, friendly family. I don't search ideal man. The main thing that in him there were high qualities as skill to love, to respect, to appreciate relations, to love children and is skilful to love and make the happy partner. For me the age does not matter because the love has not limit. I very much hope that you will write to me and will tell about yourself. I am already lonely very long time. I had earlier shot relations but it was failed. I very much hope that you become my unique person in my life. So let's not lose time. I ask you that you have answered my letter and then we can learn each other better. I hope that I have liked to you. If serious relations aren't interesting to you or I am not pleasant to you, say me it please. Is it well?

I very much ask that you have answered to me only to e-mail Marriage Agency: lovolya@yahoo.com

I shall wait from you the letter with the big impatience!
Bye bye!
Tired from loneliness Olga

I believe that's one of the unwritten perks of being the RS treasurer Jeff. All those hours laboring over the checking accounts, balances and distribution of funds finally pays off.

This is your money I don't think having to wait 3-9 days is acceptable. Also when you contact them let them know they have the comma in the wrong place on the dollar amount. (funny coming from me the guy who can never figure out the proper usage of commas) What type of people are they hiring down at the IRS that don't know this? Some times I just don't know what this country is coming to.

Found out today that a buddy on mine at work, his son fell for one of those internet dating scams

Something along the lines where you get contacted, supposedly, by a really good looking woman that convinces you that you and her are meant for each other. The only problem is that she is in Florida or Bermuda or wherever, and can't afford the airfare to fly to Colorado to meet you. BUT, if you send her money for the airfare she'll fly out. Seriously?

Well, this young dumbass sells his car to get the money and sends it to "her", only to get a follow up email later that now she is stuck in {insert a state} and needs more money to get the rest of the way to Colorado. It is at this point where my buddy's son asks his dad for money and tells his dad what he has done and that he had sold his car... Amazing!

I had heard of the scam before from a buddy that was on some online dating website and sent me some pictures he received for a "lady" that had contacted him and was interested in meeting him...I can't remember where this supposed person was from but "she" wanted him to send her airfare money to fly out

I told him to find someone that lived closer, like Westminster or Aurora - The pictures by the way weren't the type that most respectable women would send to a prospective person they might be interested in a long term relationship with

I'm just amazed that I know someone (in a round about way) that has actually fallen for this scam. I bet the young bucks money is now sitting in an account under the first name of Bruno or something - On top of all that, the son asked my buddy if he could borrow his car now...

An aide that works for my wife got scammed on Ebay. She bought a car (clue1 - price was too good to be true ). Everything was on the normal until it was time to send payment. Seller offered free shipping if she was willing to wait as supposedly the sellers uncle owned a transport business and he would haul the car up when he made his regular trip to Colorado every 3rd week. (clue 2) The seller insisted on 100% payment immediately because he had financial issues, which is why he had to sell the car in the first place. (huge clue!) She wired him $3500 via Western Union. (really dumb move!!!!!!!) The seller continued to communicate after the transfer for a couple days and told her transport was arraigned in two weeks. Communication stopped, car never showed up, Ebay could not do anything because the seller was protected by international laws and the time line for dispute expired.

I feel sad for the girl but it's really hard to understand how someone could fall for this kind of thing. She was devastated. She had been so excited to get this cool car for the money she had. She was excited to impress others by the great deal. These scams happen more than I think we realize. The girl is very bright and she did think she was dealing with a person only a couple states away. Scary stuff! Bonus scary is the seller now has the lady's address and other info!

Happened to me despite doing my best due diligence...Fortunately I was only out a deposit...I may have mentioned this before

In my case, the "seller" was auctioning off items from an estate...Problem was, he wasn't the estate owner but rather just a guy that the estate owner, who passed away, had been helping out by letting this guy live rent free in his home in NH as I recall. The guy would sell items several times over like a tractor and including the FJ40 I was buying. I actually spoke with 2 of the other buyers of the FJ40, one of which actually ended up with the vehicle before the police came to recover it. I never recouped any money despite the guy getting arrested and going to court.

Now my motto is on big ticket purchases that if I can't touch it in person, I don't buy it.
