I too looked into it, Matt and I'm with you. .gpx is probably the way to go.

Next up, Start acquiring data. I'm going to ask Matt Farr about a special e-mail address to accept .gpx file submissions.

Stephen, it might be worthwhile to do some research online - I bet most of the trails have gps tracks that are available online. Or if not, Charles Wells books probably have most of the waypoints, which can be entered (or maybe even downloaded) into a gps computer program, and then stored as .gpx.
