Default Castle Nut Size

I'm trying to perform surgery on my parking brake and don't have the right socket size. For my '73, does it take a 30 mm socket for the castle nut?

Just trying to make one trip to the store instead of my usual 6...

Hmmm. Is a 73 and a 76 ebrake the same? I rebuilt mine this past summer, and I'm pretty sure I don't have a 30mm in my set. Maybe 27 or 32mm?

I just did that on my '78 too, and damned if I can remember which socket it is. Check it with a tape measure, if it's ~1 3/16 it's a 30MM, it it's ~1 1/16 it's the 27MM. Not sure what the 32MM measures because I don't have one.

If anyone ever runs into this...apparently it's a 29mm on the older 40's and 27mm on the newer ones.

If you don't have a 29mm socket, don't worry, a 30mm and an impact wrench doesn't round off the nut too bad.
