Default FJ60 Alternator - 2 diff ones, each clocked differently

So...DanS and I ran into this during Moab after I pulled out my spare alternator for his Dad. We (his Dad and I) both had issues getting the right alternator for our 87 FJ60s.

The issue is how the Alt, esp where the VR is Clocked. I brought the wrong one back to Napa in L'ville, and we checked their online parts catalog for the right one...all the pics showed it clocked the wrong way.

Anyone have insight on the "right" one? when I replaced mine last year, the guy at Vanetta's grabbed the proper one right off the shelf. (maybe I should ask him?? )

Default Here's a pic

Here's a pic of the correct one...the wrong one has the VR clocked over by the tensioner bolt and hoses.

Just FYI, there's a single part number available now. It is backwards compatible to all years. It's the early alternators that won't fit on the later trucks.

...So I'd go looking for late model 60s to get the good spares.
