mines not a DX.

I didn't know that much about it when I found it. When I figured out that it was the mid to late 30's frames they liked I started looking for them and couldn't find one.

I have to look at the serial number again to see what year it was, I forgot, but I think it was early 40's... so mid war? It has a curved top tube. I think that's why the head badge isn't really like the original DX frames... because it's later.

the only thing I am not too jazzed about is that the seat stays aren't like the DX frames, they are brazed onto the sides of the seat posts. Maybe they'll snap off.

yeah, I've never tried to build a wheel... I feel like I can just let somebody else do that.. I think it is going to take some funky spokes to make it work with the front drum brake.

if I find a nice DX I may swap out the frame after i'm done. that part of it was relatively cheap.

and now I can't find the pre 1948 serial number database I thought I found before.

Two cool projects. Drum brakes are cool. I ran them on my old winter commuter in the day. I was a 60's era Schwinn frame. Cooks Bros cranks, MTN bar and stem with the drums laced into modern 26" rims. Kept the old chrome fenders and OEM fork. It was a fun towny.

If you ever want a free lesson on the right way to build bicycle wheels all you have to do is drive down here Its really not that hard. I love building them personally. Even back when I was building them a lot. About the only thing that sucks is 48 spoked BMX wheels. Just a lot of crossing to do there with not much space.
