Default Metal scrap yards up north...

I've got a good number of things I need to part with mostly sheet metal, pieces of useless steel, crank shafts that can't be turned, cam shafts that are scored, etc.

Where is a good metal scrap yard up North?

I take my stuff to the recycle facility in Boulder - I think it's run by Ecocycle.

Matt, they definitely do take scrap metal then? Or are you talking about the special hard-to-recycle drop-off (the place you drop off computers)?

Larimer County only accepts tin cans/lids, uncrushed (they state this explicitly, do NOT flatten) aluminum cans, empty aerosol cans & fire extinguishers, large appliances, fence, wiring and electronics & computers. They specifically exclude scrap metal, which by extension means the city recycling centers in Loveland and Ft. Collins also do not except scrap metal. I was fairly certain that was true of Ecocycle, too. I understood this was because of the way they process recyclables, scrap metal in the single stream is difficult to deal with.

Correct - it's now at the hard to recycle drop off. Ecocycle used to have a scrap steel bin at the recycle center, or if you had enough of it you could get weighed and potentially compensated (I never went that route though). Now they have the hard to recycle drop off and they accept all kinds of metal like old car parts, bikes that have run their course, broken tools, etc.
