You'll probably want some hand guards if you are going to ride that in the woods. Protect those levers from snapping when you hit a tree or drop the bike onto a rock.

If you know what boots you want and the size you need, another option is to troll ebay and craigslist for (lightly) used boots. That way you can get high quality boots like the SG10's for 1/2 the price of new. SG10's are going for $320-$450 new right now.

They're kinda like putting an ARB locker in your truck: it seems really expensive when you have to put up the money but once you've used it several times, you decide it was totally worth it.

the other thing to remember is that comfort is essential when you spend the whole day in them, also I've been riding mine for 4 seasons now and they have at least that much time left in them.

My best "bought it twice" item so far was with the roost protector, kidney belt, and elbow pads. I first tried piecing all that together, and it sucked the elbow pads kept slipping down and my Camelback literally dug into my neck. then I got an "all in one" armor jacket, where it's all of that sewn together....

Wow was that an upgrade.

Hey all. Thanks for the tips on the SG10 boots, hand guards and body armor. Shopping around takes time. Haven't found any Gaerne dealers nearby yet for trying boots on.

When trying on boots, Imagine someone with a baseball bat hitting you in the ankle. Trail riding is like that but with rocks and 250lb motorcycles. Dont' try to save money on boots.
Buy pants with a cargo pockets.
Buy moto goggles on close-out, ski goggles suck
You can send back anything you buy on-line and don't like the fit.
Helmet should feel 1/2 size too small when new, it will feel a size bigger after 5 rides. Comfy now means too big later.

Your "outfit" should not match.
