Every 6 months on both 80s which usually ends up being somewhere in the 4-5k mile range. Blackstone reports done on both vehicles states that I can go longer but I don't - every 6 months works good for me.

Old oil goes to O'Reilly's

Saw this thread, rig was do for a change, and meant to do a Blackstone some time anyway. So here was mine. BTW, Blackstone will send you a free kit to capture and return your oil.

Came across this information and thought I'd post it to the group. You may have seen it before, but I hadn't. Great info on Oil Filters!!! Sorry for the Mopar insert!

So, with this information, which filter would you choose? I've always used the NAPA Gold or a regular Toyota if I order from CDAN or go to Boulder Toyota.

Hmm..

I change the 4runner every 3-5k with Mobil 1 full syn, and the Rav4 every 5k with the same. Filter changes everytime.

Always really dirty when it comes out, so I figure its time. The rav gets expensive since it sees 40-45k per year.

The 4runner gets it just for fun. I like the idea of really clean oil in there. I also change the air filter regularly, and the diffs and trans/tcase once a year. Spark plugs, and coolant every 30k.

Am I wasting money? Probably. Then again, its a high mileage motor and I beat on it alot (The SC gets really fun at 5 grand )

I take the oil to the Oreilly's on 88th and Wads since it is across the street, and the rest of the stuff to the Rooney Road recycling center, which is free for some stuff, costs for others (I think paint and brake fluid cost, and anti-freeze is free, but I can't remember).

As for that Oreilly's being full all the time, I think it depends on who you talk to. Seriously. There are a couple of guys there I think are toking the bong a bit too much while at work.

Funny, I changed it in the 4runner yesterday morning. twice a year, between 3k and 5k. Always run Mobil 1 full syn. With a Toyota, you do a little maintenance, there is no reason that it can't reach 200,000 miles.

I don't have the artical.
But a independent company with no affiliation to any Motor oil manufacture, tested every full synthetic oil on the market.
And almost every oil broke Down and stopped "Lubricating" at 2-3,000 miles. Penzoil was the worst at like 1500.
Valvoline was like 8000, Castrol about 5000. Mobil 1 full syn 25,000 miles before it STARTED to brake down.
I run it 10,000 and its still clean'ish when it comes out.
There "clean 5000" is better than most full syn oils

LOL. Only going 200k would be an embarrassment for a Toyota.

Dang, I dunno, perhaps my engines were not taken care of by PO's, but at 5k, my Mobil1 comes out blacker than coal.
