a 4 wheel engine stand is much more stable than a 3 wheel stand.

I have two (currently occupied) 1000 pound engine stand with F engines on them. I think that even though an F/2F weighs in at around 700 pounds, the 750 pound stand are inadequate because they figure a shorter V8 rather than the longer I6. I can definitely say that the 1000 pound stands will work with an F/2F, but given the choice, a beefier stand would be better. The 1000 pound stands usually run around $50.

As far as the utility of a 2000 pound shop crane, you ain't kiddin'! After you buy one to yank an engine you find all kinds of other uses for them. And about $200 seems to be the going price from various sources.

One of the cool things about big cruiser projects, is accumulating tools and equipment that you needed for that one particular job, but then find invaluable for other, future jobs. As long as you have room to store it when not in use, things like engine stands and shop cranes are super handy to have around.

Ok its only $20 more for the 1250 lb stand (edit: its a 4 wheel stand and significantly more burly than the 3 wheel 1000 lb stand). Ill get more use out of it too, I can forget about rebuilding the engine for now since it runs fairly well and pull it later when I need another winter project. Or I can snap up a cheap 2f if I see one, put it on the stand and rebuild it at my leisure.

Looks like a toolzone run tommorow. I need some Rising Sun stickers to put on this equipment.
