I can see why a place at the far reaches of ones civilization could be appealing. The cultural and political significance of Chaco all but faded, pueblos burning on Sleeping Ute Mountain while the drought continues on. Maybe a sense of safety out here. For that mater, some descent farming, hunting and water.

One visit, i'd love to set up signals from lookout knoll and this mesa. Found a cave in there during a past visit. In direct line to Lookout knoll.

Great pics. I was over there a couple of weeks back and made a right turn instead of a left at the intersection of Forest Road 088 and Beef Basin Road. It took us into some really cool terrain in Manti La Sal NF (green grass, aspen, etc). We eventually made it back into Beef Basin, but I think it was the long way. We ended up driving down some really shady and narrow roads.

I assume that you guys followed the highlighted line in the pic below?

Cant tell exactly where your talking about from that pic. We came in via Indian Creek Road to the intersection for Beef Basin. We were on the big loop for Beef Basin.

Theres a bunch of roads to explore in that area.

Here's a question.
What kind of a tent setup is that? Is that an ARB? I'm sure the mounting has got to be custom, I'm more interested in that tent.

The tent is a Eezi-Awn 1200 series Roof top Tent. You can get them here. A few things i'd fix on it (already have a plan, thanks Martin). But a great quality product.

ARB makes a great RTT as well.

Still need to get the rest of the pictures up...

I have an ARB and after being able to compare them side by side, I like the tent and fly material of the EZ-Awn better, but I like the construction of the ARB overall. I've had it for several years and used it a bunch with no complaints.

Here's my ARB in camp. (just some filler until Perry posts more pics!)

But I would love to have one. Seems like such a no-brainer.
