Default Late snow and trails...

I spoke to the ranger at CC Ranger District today. These late snows are playing havoc with trail openings. They don't expect Kingston Peak to open until the end of July unless we really get warm. Even upper Loch Lomond will be a while. They wanted to open them for 4th of July, but it's not looking good.

Barbour Fork will open June 14th or 15th. That's more for elk calving and not snow.

I'm guessing we'll have a smaller window for high country travel this year. We sure need the moisture though!

On another note, the Western Slope was looking pretty brown and dry on my way out to Moab, so everything should open early out that way. I feel a Western Colorado overnighter coming......

I was up Mammoth Gulch on Saturday- couldn't even get to the big campsite before the first fork in the road. Though on my way down there were some pretty big Jeeps headed up, so who knows they could have blasted up a bit more. But as we all know it can be dry as can be down there and still drifty up top, so I'm sure it'll be a while.

That's ok though, snow makes easy trails more challenging. As long as everyone respects that and doesn't just try to drive around the drifts.
