Default Vail Camping

Hey all! I am planning on leaving Denver around 3pm and heading up to the Vail area to camp. I wanted to know if the Piney Creek road North of Vail was open? If so, has anyone had any luck finding decent dispersed sites along that road? Or is it always packed?
Thanks a lot for any insight and help!
-Mark

It is open, it is dry. There are a bunch of people that camp on it. I will suggest you follow FR700 (piney rd) 6.5 miles. Camping on 700 sucks due to the large amount of people that drive to Piney lake at the weekend. Turn left at fr734. Go 1.6 miles greatest campsite that I know of. This is the start of the Buffher creek trail. You'll see a sign. There is a wooden pit toilet behind the big tree.

Get gas in Summit Co, it'll save you $$.
I'll try come up and meet you.

I expect to head to the Breck area Friday afternoon and may do a short run Saturday with cousins.

Thanks for the suggestion! Is there a fire ban in effect for that area?

Stage 2 Fire Ban. No open fires. Contained fires with on/off switch only. Think propane camp grill.... that's what we're bringing. Just waiting for the kids to gather their things....

I may have given bad information. The stage 2 fire restriction is for he Leadville district and surrounding areas.

CR700 was pretty busy with day traffic as Farnhams said but we were able to find a decent spot for our one night trip. I also got the LX posing for the first time.
