Default FS: Built '73 FJ40

Howdy folks!

Final price drop: $10,500, firm. Anything less and I'll just keep it and play with it every once in awhile.

After much soul-searching and discussion with the financial manager, it doesn't come as much surprise that I really miss racing, and the way for me to get back into it is to sell my 1973 FJ40 to fund a car purchase. I really wish I could do both, but this is going to end up just sitting and not getting any love, and that's just not fair. So, I've decided to sell. I've owned it for just over 2 years, and have been daily driving it for the full time.

I'm asking $10,500. Please give me a call at 720.270.2147 or drop me an email at ianacole@hotmail.com with any questions.

Pics are here: http://www.wasabiraceteam.com/gallery/fj40/index.html and http://www.wasabiraceteam.com/galler...s/details.html, and include some from the previous owner as well as some from our trip up Chinaman Gulch.

I've taken some more pictures. You can find them here:

  1. Some rust on the front bib. This is the only rust on the truck.
  2. Bikini top
  3. Full metal half doors
  4. Hard top
  5. Remaining hardtop pieces, to include full doors
  6. Driver side of the hardtop, all glass is there.

Below is the build list. Last September I swapped in a new 350 TBI after replacing all of the components in the cooling system (hoses, radiator, water pump) chasing down a heating issue. The TBI system needs some tuning, but it runs well enough that I drive it every day. It runs rich, and has a rough idle, and will occasionally bog when stepping on the gas. These are minor inconveniences and I drive it daily with no issues.

February 2012 I had the transmission rebuilt at AA Transmission off Colfax and I-70. As part of the rebuild they installed a new straight cut output gear, replacing the original one.

DRIVETRAIN:
GM 350 TBI
Dual Exhaust
On-Board YORK compressor
3 gallon air tank
Air hoses routed to front and rear of tub
4-core HD radiator
TH400 Auto transmission
ORION 4:1 transfer case
FJ40 f/r axles
4:10 gearing
WARN hubs
ARB front/Detroit rear
Front axle converted to disc brakes
Rear drum brakes
Bilstein on all four corners
Alcan orbital leaf springs on all corners
Front axle moved forward 5"
Saginaw PS
Dual battery setup under driver seat
14 gal main and 17 gal reserve fuel tanks

ARMOR:
Custom sliders
Metal Tech front stinger and radiator hoop
Metal Tech full/family roll cage - welded to frame in front
Custom and solid rear bumper with tire carrier
Full belly pan skid plate - fawker's built to take a missle head on
Custom rear diff cover
Front axle gusset'd for strength

INTERIOR:
New AutoMeter gauge cluster
DS/PS Seats have quick pins to easily remove from tub
Seats mounted to custom frame around batteries and fuel tank
Rear bench seat - quick pin removal
RHINO Lined tub
Cobra CB with antenna ran to spare tire carrier
Over head AM/FM/CD/iPOD stereo
Kenwood outdoor speakers mounted to cage in rear
New Dash
B&M Shifter
Custom center console with locks
Durable seat covers with pockets all around
Swinging "flop" proof coozie "soda" holders mounted to frame

EXTERIOR:
Matte finish Blue
LITTLE dings here and there from the trail
Original hard top - desperately needs to be restored
Full hard doors - great condition, just wrong color (white)
Full BestTop soft top with full soft doors
Hard half doors cut down from stock doors - been redone already

SHOES:
(5) 37" IROK's - 50% tread
(5) 17" Black steelies with some rock rash

OTHER ITEMS:
40" HiLift with elephant pad
ALL the original misc. body parts, emblems, mirrors, etc.
Gallon of matching paint for touch ups

Thanks, and good point on the interior. I'll take some photos tonight and add them.

Here are additional photos of the engine, interior and underside. If there's something specific someone wants a photo of let me know.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

I've dropped the price to $13K and added some additional pictures and video.

Also has a newly rebuilt (from RM Driveline) drive shaft It was lengthened, new joints installed, and balanced due to a recent failure...
