I run one of these which may also be what Matt Miller (Subzali) meant to say he runs:

It works fine for what we need it for. I also run and external speaker with it since I have it in the center console tucked away. I left the dash space for my HAM radio which I use much much more and fiddle with.

I think Matt's is the Cobra 18 with front mounted speaker. Very clean install. I have a Uniden 520 mounted similarly, with an external speaker.

Good stuff. My factory double-DIN previously crapped out but I already installed another double-DIN Bluetooth unit, so that in-dash option is a no-go for me. I have seen some applications that use the under dash speakers as aux speakers for the CB, so I'll likely go that route unless I can find something that Bluetooth's to my head unit. I may look at either an in-console installation or something for under the dash.

Thanks for the feedback on brands and features I should look at.

I'm loving my Cobra 29LTD. Found it at ARC for $15, add a Firestik for $25. HAM is real trendy, and better I'm sure, but, I'm on to other performance mods with my cash and time.

I have one of those you can have for free, if you want it. I couldn't make anything out people were saying, audio quality seemed very poor to me.

SOLD! The price is right. I'll be back in Evergreen tomorrow night and plan to do the 19th Spooky run, pending details. What's the best way to connect?

Cobra and Uniden are good brands. As others have posted, cheap and simple is just fine. I will elaborate: as in all things radio, antenna, antenna, antenna. All CBs are very close to the same except for their antenna (and the connection between the radio and its antenna).

With a good antenna and good mounting and connections you will hear and be heard regardless of the brand and model of radio (HAM or CB) you use.
