FEAT (Four-wheel Emergency Assistance Team) is a
program of the Colorado Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs, Inc. (COA4WDCI).
*
It has been my privilege and honor to have served as
Chairman of this group for the past 18 years.
However, there comes a time when someone else must take
over.
*
I informed the COA4WDCI last April that I was retiring
in June 2014.
*
As of today, their is not a replacement.
*
If any FEAT member would like to be the Chairman,
please send an email to:
President@HighTrails.org
*
Thank you all for being FEAT volunteers; the City and
County of Denver and the Office of the Emergency Management and Homeland Security (OEM) sends their thank you as well.
*
Think Snow,
*
Gene W King
FEAT Retired Chairman

iirc, part of the step down was frustration over the whole gov't machine....they were talking about having to do background checks on everyone who volunteered.

I'm emailing with Gene to see what's required. This could be a good fit for me.

It is not just his position but 4 positions that do the actual calling for volunteers. As mentioned before Gene is tired of the red tape and the infrequency of Denver using the program. The 4 people who do the dispatching have to go through special training each year and as they are not being utilized due to either lack of snow or the "conditions" don't warrant our help.

I have found it better to go around my area and help my neighbors instead. Living in Roxborough there are a ton of vehicles that run of the road or get stuck when the snow is to deep. This last storm I put my new Ford truck to use and was pleasantly surprised as to how well it did. Back to the point, I helped out 11 families that either got stuck and needed a ride or pulled out their vehicles. I did have one person insist he pay me for driving his family home so I had him fill my tank.

I also spoke to a DCS officer and let him know what I was doing, he remembered me from when I rolled my truck and knew my wheeling background so he was OK with it. He even send me a customer.

Unless we get 2 feet of snow FEAT is not going to be calling, JMHO. I hope I am wrong.
